Saffron Makes Things

Hi. I am Saffronsugar, 19 year old art and fashion student from Sweden.
I run three other blogs and this shall be my art/diy blog.
Critique would be awesome. You can submit critiques, questions etc. either by replying to posts or through the askbox.

I may give commissions if I want to.
And here’s another shibori project - pleating a fabric using a plastic sewer pipe(brand new, of course) and fishing line

I’ve tied all the buttons in! Now heat and dye and then it’s done… I’m using a shibori technique to shape the fabric. Can’t remember the name of the technique, though.

current projects; experimenting with materials. working with heat, dye, thread and in this particular venture… wooden buttons. I’m working with shapes, textures and colours to change the way a fabric looks and behaves and it’s terribly interesting! I’ll probably keep doing this all summer. My madly cool design teacher is letting us go wild with materials so I’m enjoying myself!
I’m also doing some pleating using fishing line and a plastic tube and I hope to have some results by friday. Maybe I’ll be able to dye the pictured fabric then, too (I’m thinking indigo)

here is one of the pieces I made in my design class, finally finished! we were to make something out of paper, and I ended up using paper stars since I love star shaped things and things relating to space… it was originally meant to be larger but I didn’t have enough silver paper (it’s not available any more) so I made this necklace/breastplate sort of thing.

It’s entirely made out of paper except for the thread used to sew them on. Even the base is paper (tissue paper fused with interfacing)

hair clips I made with some left-over supplies. I’m pretty into them!

I made these cupcakes Thursday evening, my friend turned 18 yesterday so I brought these to school to share with the class. They’re chocolate with vanilla (the real deal, not the bottled stuff. who do you think I am?) frosting and good god they were delicious. I’m really really proud of these. They were not only the best cupcakes I ever had, but the best cupcakes I ever tasted. SO. GOOD.
I used a frosting recipe that used granulated sugar instead of icing sugar, and it also included a white roux. Turned out v. fluffy but it took like 10 minutes just to get the sugar to dissolve. Way worth it though, seriously.
